- Module 1: What Codex Is
People say "the Codex app" as though there is one thing to download. There is not. Codex is a mode you switch into and a set of tools that run in different places. This module gives you the real shape of the product, the list of surfaces it runs on, and the difference between asking a question and handing over a job. By the end you will be able to hear a vendor or a contractor say "we use Codex" and know which of six or seven things they mean.
4 - Module 2: The Task Loop and Supervision
This module is the working core of the course. You will walk the loop a Codex task actually follows, learn to tell two very different kinds of approval apart, read the sandbox and approval settings that decide what the agent can do, and get the list of actions that always stop for a person. Three of these four lessons come from the supervised-agent curriculum this course was adapted from. They are the parts that hold up regardless of which vendor you use.
5 - Module 3: Guardrails
Module 2 covered the settings that decide what an agent may do. This module covers the habits and the files that decide what it will actually be pointed at. Two of these lessons are program policy that applies to every tool you will use. Two are Codex specifics that you should re-check when the product changes.
5 - Module 4: Deciding and Adopting
You now know what Codex is, how the loop works, and what the guardrails are. This module is about the decision. How to get access on a plan you may already have, what a first task should look like, and how to choose between Codex, a chat window, and Claude Code without guessing. It ends with the part most courses leave out: how to tell when what you learned here has expired.
